We sat down with Advisor and Coach to B2B Sales Leaders, Jeff Bajorek to get his top prospecting tips for sales teams.

Jeff’s Top 5 Tips for Better Sales Prospecting:

  1. Believe in yourself - You have to believe that you can help, you have to believe that you've got a message worth sharing, you've got to believe that you have a solution or a resolution to the problems and the issues that your ideal prospect is concerned with or struggling with at the moment. 

  2. Use a multi-channel approach - use more than one means of outreach or communication. Use a multi-pronged multi-channel approach. Use them in conjunction with one another and test them against each other. 

  3. Do the prep work first - identify the things that you want to tackle, the problems you want to approach, and how you want to go about doing your prospecting. When you can create those talk tracks and those bullet points, those content pieces, and put that all together for yourself ahead of time, then prospecting just becomes a matter of execution. 

  4. Reach out - Reach out much more often than you think you need to - is my recommendation for most industries. Some are going to be a little bit faster, some are going to be a little bit slower. But, for most industries, if you're reaching out five times every four weeks, you're going to do enough to maintain a little bit of ‘Top of Mind Awareness’ for your prospects. 

  5. My fifth tip is really more of a concept - I want you to ask yourself with every outreach is ‘Is this interaction increasing my reputation as someone worth talking to, and as having something worth talking about?’ Do you have a reputation that's going to get your call back? If you're reaching out with these cheap little, ‘Hey, did you get a chance to read that email? Hey, just making sure that you got my voicemail’ - that is not helping your reputation.
