The world lost a man of faith, scholarship, and passion for the Phillies when long-time Bryn Mawr resident David Frederick Babbel, 72, passed away on May 20, 2021, from the effects of leukemia. Born on April 12, 1949, in Salt Lake City to Frederick William and June Andrew Babbel, Dave spent his youth in Arlington, Virginia and enjoyed playing sports of all kinds, especially baseball. Sandwiched between four sisters, Dave learned to appreciate strong women, which would serve him well in his future life. From 1968 to 1970, Dave served a mission in Brazil for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Afterward, he graduated from Brigham Young University and went on to earn a PhD in Finance from the University of Florida, as well as PhD certificates in Latin American Studies and Tropical Agriculture.
Wink’s Note: The industry has lost a tremendous educator for annuities. How sad. – sjm
